Sugar Shack Burlesque announces "Six weeks in the Sugar Shack: Burlesque Workshop Series" at the Firehouse Theatre (www.firehousetheatre.org) beginning Monday 2/19 through 3/23 from 7-9pm. Classes will occur every week alternating between Monday and Sunday evenings. Classes will cover topics such as Burlesque History, Basic Moves, Costuming and Choreography, Tassel Twirling and Pastie Making, Fan and Chair Dancing, Character Development, and the Modern Twist on the Vintage Tease. The final class will be a dress rehearsal for the class recital which will occur at the Firehouse on March 30th at 8pm. In addition to Miss Sue, classes will be taught by professional Burlesque dancers currently working in the vibrant NYC burlesque scene. Classes are 300$ for the series.
Miss Sue currently produces monthly burlesque shows in NYC, Brooklyn, Massachusetts, and Washington DC. In addition to founding NYC's only burlesque danceparty, Shaken and Stirred, Miss Sue is also the resident Burlesque Producer for the Living Theatre in Manhattan. This summer she brought burlesque to the Hamptons with a weekly show at the beautiful Sole East in Montauk. She has had the honor of performing at the Slipper Room, Starshine Burlesque, Sweet and Nasty Burlesque, The Jalopy Music School, Ars Nova, Galapagos and many other enchanting venues. In addition, Miss Sue is the founder and producer of Bleeding Hearts Burlesque, the only non-profit burlesque company in the country. She looks forward to sharing the positive and cheeky experience of burlesque with the lovely ladies of Richmond.
