Our co-founder Miss RunAround Sue will be modeling at the Society of Illustrators’ “Jazz and Sketch Night” Every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:30-9:30 the society books live music and models for your drawing pleasure. Join professional illustrators as well as students for an enjoyable evening of figure drawing. Located at 128 E. 63rd between Park and Lexington. 1/31 – Sugar Shack Goes North, Club Helsinki (Great Barrington, Mass)

New York City's own Sugar Shack Burlesque has set up a home away from home here in the Berkshires. Their once a month visits have become the talk of the town since they began in Summer and will continue to turn heads this winter. Co-producers and performers RunAround Sue and Legs Malone present an evening of burlesque and side show with some very special guests direct from the Big Apple. Sugar Shack Burlesque has been keeping it sweet since 2006, throwing parties and creating intriguing and fun events at a variety of venues including New York City's The Slipper Room, Lotus, The Kraine Street Theater, Jalopy Speakeasy, and Brooklyn's own Galapagos Art Space. Their more outrageous shows include roller-skating go-go girls, fire dancers and aerial artists suspended from the ceiling. The ladies regularly produce NYC's ONLY burlesque dance party at the famed East Village haunt Niagara where burlesque stars both established and rising perform the first Wednesday of every month. From classic to comedic acts, these ladies encompass a wonderful slice of the vibrant neo-burlesque scene in New York City. Come on out and see what the buzz is all about!

Sugar Shack Burlesque’s Partner in Crime, Legs Malone, brings you The Legs Malone Show at Public Assembly (formerly Galapagos in Williamsburg, BK)the first Monday of every month.. Producer and host Legs Malone will bring to the stage a beautifully distilled mix of burlesque, sideshow, and variety acts in a salon-style format mixing humor, beauty and classic entertainment. 2/11- Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School Richmond Branch (RVA)

Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School is a little Brooklyn drawing club that that has become an international community. This month Deanna Danger will bring to life the theme: The Prom Your Mamma Warned you About. On Feb. 11th, Gallery 5 will open their doors from 6-9 for the second Dr. Sketchy's in the River City. Every Sunday at 9pm Fem Appeal wrangles up the sauciest dames for your viewing pleasure at Bar on A (10th St. and Ave. A). This special Valentine’s show is hosted by non other than Miss RunAround Sue.

Six Weeks in the Sugar Shack: Burlesque Workshop Series at the Firehouse


Sugar Shack Burlesque announces "Six weeks in the Sugar Shack: Burlesque Workshop Series" at the Firehouse Theatre (www.firehousetheatre.org) in Richmond, Virginia. Classes begin Monday 2/16 through 3/23 from 7-9pm. Classes will occur every week alternating between Monday and Sunday evenings (2/16, 2/22, 3/2, 3/8, 3/16, 3/22). Classes will cover topics such as Burlesque History, Basic Moves, Costuming, Choreography, Tassel Twirling, Pastie Making, Fan Dancing, and Character Development. The final class will be a dress rehearsal for the class recital which will occur at the Firehouse on March 30th at 8pm.

In addition to Miss Sue, classes will be taught by Gal Friday, teaching the signature New York School of Burlesque Classic Moves Routine, Nasty Canasta from Pinchbottom Burlesque and Sugar Shack Burlesque's partner in crime, Miss Legs Malone. All guest teachers are professional Burlesque dancers currently working in the vibrant NYC burlesque scene. Classes are 300$ for the series.


Miss Sue currently produces monthly burlesque shows in NYC, Brooklyn, Massachusetts, and Washington DC. In addition to founding NYC's only burlesque danceparty, Shaken and Stirred, Miss Sue is also the resident Burlesque Producer for the Living Theatre in Manhattan. This summer she brought burlesque to the Hamptons with a weekly show at the beautiful Sole East in Montauk. She has had the honor of performing at the Slipper Room, Starshine Burlesque, Sweet and Nasty Burlesque, The Jalopy Music School, Ars Nova, Galapagos and many other enchanting venues. In addition, Miss Sue is the founder and producer of Bleeding Hearts Burlesque, the only non-profit burlesque company in the country. She looks forward to sharing the positive and cheeky experience of burlesque with the lovely ladies of Richmond.

Night. Join the ladies of Starshine Burlesque, Little Brooklyn and Creamy Stevens, along with your hosts for the evening - Miss RunAround Sue and Legs Malone. And what a special treat we have for you! Gracing our go-go boxes this month are none other than Miss Coney Island, Gal Friday and the soon to be expatriot, Pinkie Special.... Miss RunAround Sue will be joined by fellow Sugar Shack producer Legs Malone on Jan. 12th for Sugar Shack South Auditions. Perfomers are asked to prepare one burlesque piece either classic or modern. Miss Sue is looking more for heart than polish, so works in progress are completely acceptable. No prior experience is required. If performers do not have a piece to present they are still encouraged to come. In addition to prepared pieces, performers will participate in simple movement excercises and improvs. Please bring your music on an ipod. Photos are not required but always appreciated. DR.SKETCHY'S RVA OPENS
Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School is a little Brooklyn drawing club that that has become an international community. Founded in 2005 by artist Molly Crabapple, Dr.Sketchy's is a drawing session where the models are costumed performers: Burlesque Dancers, Circus Freaks, Puppeteers.... and the artists are welcome to drink, draw and participate in silly contests (Best left handed sketch? Model's favorite image?). Dr. Sketchy's has expanded to over 50 cities including Tokyo, Rome, London, Paris, Melbourne and now - Richmond. NYC Burlesque producer, Miss RunAround Sue, has stepped up to play the part of HeadMistress of the RVA branch and is scouring the streets of Richmond to bring forth the most engaging models for your artistic development. On Jan. 14th, Gallery 5 will open their doors from 6-9 for the first Dr. Sketchy's in the River City. For only 10$ artists can tease their imagination, sadle up to the bar, and sketch away. RunAround Sue and Legs Malone are join DJ Jess's regular night of debauchery: TRASH! at their new venue, the Studio @ Webster Hall
Resident DJs Jess and Alex Malfunction spin Brit pop, new wave, indie rock, post punk and dirty electro. We're told that the dress code will be enforced by "door whore Brendon James, post punk rocker, underage American Apparel model, FIT dropout," but they don't say what the dress code is. Although we're guessing tight pants and carefully mussed hair will never let you down. Bonus: 2-for-1 well drinks at 3 a.m.

Send in the Elephants!


Hello Lovelies - I hope everyone had a fulfilling holiday season. Sugar Shack is ready to get started. 2009 is gonna be a great year - hell, it already is! This weekend Sue is in Richmond ironing out some details for the upcoming shows. On Monday, she'll be joining Pinkie Special, Melody Sweets, and Bastard Keith at her partner in crime's show: The Legs Malone show at Public Assembly. Wednesday is Shaken and Stirred at Niagara! And what a hot line up have we got!! Little Brooklyn and Creamy Stevens are our features performers with Gal Friday and Pinkie Special shakin it on the go-go box. Jan. 12th are auditions for Sugar Shack South down in Richmond at Gallery 5. Sue is looking more for heart and personality than anything else. Bring one piece either classical or modern. Two days later on January 14th we have the debut of Molly Crabapple's Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School in RVA! On 01/23 and 01/24th you can find Miss Sue participating in the Firehouse Theatre Project's playreading festival performing the part of Mindy Darling in Magnificent Waste. Be on the lookout for burlesque workshops at the Firehouse in early spring.

The end of the month brings Miss Sue back to NYC where she will be debuting the In the Flesh:Cole Porter show with co-producer Miss Amber Ray. This is a Bleeding Hearts Production and proceeds will be going towards www.misterartsee.org In march, the Cole Porter show will be playing at the Palace of Wonders in DC and in Richmond VA.

At one a.m. RunAround Sue and Legs Malone sashay over to DJ Jess's monthly throwdown - TRASH! in The Studio at Webster Hall. Never ones for sleep, these two ladies will be finishing out January at their favorite little Norwegian spot in the Berkshires - Club Helsinki. World Famous *BOB* and the Lady Aye round out this stellar production with two shows on 01/31 - 8pm and 10:30pm
