The Hazy Days of....May Days....


Well Hello to you all...

April was a wonderful month, full of good friends and inspiring shows. We also had the occasional glass of whiskey and night of Mayhem - so, all things considered it was a perfectly proportioned passing of days....

The first Saturday of May finds us on one of our most favorite road trips... straight up the Taconic Parkway to Great Barrington, Massachusetts. This weekend we're celebrating -for the second time (because one is nice, but twice is twice!), our one year anniversary performing at the spectacular Club Helsinki. Manchego, host from the Slipper Room and clown extraordinaire, leads a night bursting with the talents of Miss Tickle, RunAround Sue, and - newly home from India!- Legs Malone. May 18th - Six Weeks in the Sugar Shack: Burlesque Workshop Series, Richmond VA

Sugar Shack Burlesque announces "Six weeks in the Sugar Shack: Burlesque Workshop Series". Classes will cover topics such as Burlesque History, Basic Moves, Costuming, Choreography, Tassel Twirling, Pastie Making, Fan Dancing, and Character Development. Classes will be held at Gallery 5 (200 W. Marshall Street)on Monday evenings starting May 18th and occurring for six consecutive weeks. The final class will be a dress rehearsal for the class recital which will occur at the Firehouse Theatre on June 29th.

In addition to Miss Sue, classes will be taught by Gal Friday (Miss Coney Island), teaching the signature New York School of Burlesque Classic Moves Routine and Nasty Canasta producer of Pinchbottom Burlesque and Sweet and Nasty Burlesque. All guest teachers are professional Burlesque dancers currently working in the vibrant NYC burlesque scene. Classes are 300$ for the series.

Attention Ladies of Richmond!


Six Weeks in the Sugar Shack: Burlesque Workshop Series starting May 18th! Spend your Monday nights learning the art of Burlesque. In these workshops we'll cover such topics as Tassel Twirling, Fan Dancing, Burlesque History, Basic Moves, Costuming, Choreography, and Character Development. The final class will be a dress rehearsal for the class recital which will occur at the Firehouse Theatre.

In addition to Miss Sue, classes will be taught by guest teachers who are all professional Burlesque dancers currently working in the vibrant NYC burlesque scene. Classes are 300$ for the series.


Miss Sue currently produces monthly burlesque shows in NYC, Brooklyn, Massachusetts, and Washington DC. In addition to founding NYC's only burlesque danceparty, Shaken and Stirred, Miss Sue is also the resident Burlesque Producer for the Living Theatre in Manhattan. Last summer she brought burlesque to the Hamptons with a weekly show at the beautiful Sole East in Montauk. She has had the honor of performing at the Slipper Room, Starshine Burlesque, Sweet and Nasty Burlesque, The Jalopy Music School, Ars Nova, Galapagos and many other enchanting venues. In addition, Sugar Shack Burlesque had the honor of being the first burlesque troupe to perform in Bermuda this past March when they performed for the opening night party of the International Film Festival. She looks forward to sharing the positive and cheeky experience of burlesque with the lovely ladies of Richmond.

Burly-Q's May Review


May 4th, The Legs Malone Show, Brooklyn
The first Monday in March you can find Miss RunAround Sue take a couple turns on the stage at The Legs Malone Show at Public Assembly. These two ladies are joined by Boo Boo Darlin, Queen Laqueefa and other burlesque sensations.



May 6th, Shaken and Stirred, Bowery Electric NYC
And then the first Wed in may - May 6th join us at for Shaken and Stirred, NYC's ONLY Burlesque DanceParty! This month announcing our new venue: Bowery Electric. Join us at 327 Bowery just below 2nd St. when we pop the cherry on the new stage with Miss Peekaboo Pointe and Boo Boo Darlin, the lovely Kit Kat will lead you with her go-go stylings and DJ Jess will be ,as always, our resident heartthrob. Miss Pop Pistol will be workin the door where entry is 8$.

On the First Saturday we'll shakin it for the fine people of Great Barrington.. at Club Helsinki, where we've spent the last year slipping into something more comfortable. This week: The Sugar Shack in RVA

Down home in RVA, I'm the headmistress for the Richmond branch of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School: Where cabaret meets drawing session.
This wed. brings us back to our monthly drawing session at Gallery 5 (200 W, Marshall St) from 6-9pm. Our model this month, Bailey, is bringing to life the "Fan Dancer". In addition to our super fine costumed model, we additionally are pleased to announce our new partnership with the cool undeground art book company - Baby Tattoo (www.babytattoo.com) . This month when you participate in Headmistress's Sue's crazy contest you'll walk away with one of these amazing books. As always, our dapper bartenders will be happy to sell you booze and we look forward to having you at our session. Please contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.
